Sweet Girl Journal

Hi, I hope you are having a great week so far! The weather here in Washington, DC has gotten warm with lots of rain, but we’re loving it, well…my plants are loving it – they grew at least 8 inches in the last 3 days thanks to all the rain.

Back in February, I posted about a family journal I created while taking the online workshop at Something Splendid by Elizabeth Kartchner. Today, I made a new Sweet Girl journal, inspired by the beautiful color palette of this week’s color challenge at CR84FN53 Cupcake Creations. I love when colors, patterned papers, and embellishments all come together to create a unique piece of art. This 10r-page journal is an empty canvas ready to be filled with treasured life memories and photos of someone’s life.

This journal was designed with beautiful details and textures. The example the cover, was created using soft pastel colors. I added a fabric flower, heart paper doily, rubb-ons, stickers,  rhinestones and more.

The color inspiration came from CR84FN53.

Below are photos of the inside the journal. Each page has a unique design, patterned papers and embellishments. Expand this section to see them. Continue Reading »

A Brighter Tomorrow

Hi there,
Today while reading the news, I came across an article about a brave family whose baby, Avery, was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Avery’s family created a blog that went viral online – Avery’s Bucket List. The blog is sweet and joyfully written from Avery’s perspective – it chronicles her world and tracks their family adventures, checking things off from the bucket list as they go.

This Monday, angel Avery was called to heaven way too soon – she passed away of pulmonary complications from the disease, she was only 5 months old. What I admire most about this family is that they embraced and went after life, not waiting for life to bring anything to them.

How many times do we take our lives and family for granted? It’s challenging to focus on family when we have full-time jobs, and time always seems to run out, but it’s important to change the focus and spend more time with the ones you love, embracing every moment. I know there’s a bright tomorrow for all those going through difficult times, or those battling a disease. Please join me and visit Avery’s Bucket List blog and help spread awareness.

Thank you for stopping by.

MOM

Hi there,
It’s almost time to celebrate all those incredible women that have chosen the most rewarding and challenging of all jobs, being a mom. My mom devoted her entire life to her family, leaving behind a successful career to be the best mom possible. She introduced me to art & crafts, and now I’m able to share those same experiences with my little ones.

One of the biggest challenges as a mom is making sure they grow up to be honest, good hearted, humble, and that they learn anything is possible if they set their minds to it, and that dreams do come true. What have you found to be the challenges of being a parent? I’d love to hear from you.

And to celebrate of one of the best days of the year, I made this card for one special mom. This is a very simple yet elegant card.

Here is a close-up of the flowers, I added layers to the flower’s petals to make them pop.

If you are interested in purchasing this card please email me.

You Warm My Heart!

Hi there, I feel really bad that I haven’t post any projects recently on my blog. I guess part of my new year’s resolution was to be able to find time for myself, and I’m just doing that! This past week I took advantage of the spa week here in DC, and I got a full body massage, in addition to mani and pedi at Red Door, it felt like heaven.  This card reminds me of the time well spent, people there were so kind, and this cup reminds me of the many warm cups of tea that I had that day.

The stamp set I used is called Latte Love by Fiskars, is a very lovely set. I made the main image using my favority 3D technique.

Here is a close-up of the tea cup. I added some liquid glaze to the heart and inside the cup for cuteness. I colored the cup with copics markers.

Thank you for stopping by.

When I first started to work on this card, I couldn’t help but think of all those beautiful women that are currently battling breast cancer. 15 years ago, my mom was diagnosed with this terrible disease, but thanks to her hard work, strength, and positivism, she won the battle.

Please remember to enjoy life; is time to stop and smell the roses!

Love always-
CM~
